always-on display
Never-sleeping monitor face
An always-on display is a screen feature, typically on smartphones and smartwatches, that shows basic information like time, date, and notifications even when the device appears to be sleeping.
The display dims rather than turning completely off, allowing quick glances without waking the full screen: The always-on display drains a bit more battery, but I like seeing the time without tapping anything.
