Algaecides are chemical agents used to kill or inhibit the growth of algae.
They're applied to swimming pools, ponds, aquariums, and water treatment systems to prevent green scum and cloudy water: Add algaecide weekly during summer months.
Common active ingredients include copper compounds and quaternary ammonium.
