aerial skiing
Acrobatic winter jumping
Aerial skiing is a freestyle skiing discipline in which competitors launch off ramps and perform acrobatic maneuvers—flips, twists, and spins—while airborne, then land on a steep slope.
Judges score the jumps on takeoff, form, and landing.
The sport became an Olympic event in 1994.
