adopted sibling
Non-biological family member
An adopted sibling is a brother or sister who joined the family through legal adoption rather than biological birth.
The term may refer to a sibling who was adopted into one's family, or to one's relationship with biological children of adoptive parents.
In everyday use, most families simply say brother or sister without the qualifier: My sister was adopted from Korea when she was two.
