acoustic bass guitar

An acoustic bass guitar is a bass guitar with a hollow wooden body that produces sound without electronic amplification, though most have pickups for plugging in.

It's tuned like an electric bass (E-A-D-G), an octave below standard guitar.

The large body compensates for the low frequencies, though acoustic basses remain quieter than other acoustic instruments: The acoustic bass guitar got lost in the mix during the unplugged session.
