accordion pleats
Bellows-style garment folds
Accordion pleats are narrow, evenly spaced folds in fabric that alternate in direction, resembling the bellows of an accordion.
The pleats compress flat and expand when pulled, giving garments both structure and movement: an accordion-pleated skirt.
The technique appears in skirts, lampshades, and paper decorations.
