Zambonis is the plural of Zamboni, the brand name for ice-resurfacing machines used at skating rinks.
The machine shaves the ice surface, collects debris, and lays down a thin layer of water that freezes into a smooth sheet.
The name has become genericized—any ice resurfacer may be called a Zamboni regardless of manufacturer: The Zambonis came out between periods.
