Wrinkle in Time

Crease through chronology

A wrinkle in time is a fold or shortcut through the fabric of space-time, allowing instantaneous travel across vast distances.

The phrase comes from Madeleine L'Engle's 1962 novel of the same name, where characters "tesser" through such wrinkles.

Outside that context, the phrase suggests a bend or anomaly in time's normal flow: It felt like a wrinkle in time—I blinked and three hours had passed.
