Whore of Babylon
Revelation's sinful woman
The Whore of Babylon is a figure from the Book of Revelation, depicted as a richly adorned woman seated on a seven-headed beast, symbolizing corruption, idolatry, and decadence.
Protestant reformers applied the term to the Roman Catholic Church; more broadly it serves as an epithet for any institution or person seen as morally corrupt and seductive: Wall Street is the Whore of Babylon.
Sometimes shortened to simply the Whore.
