West Germans
Cold War westerners
West Germans were citizens of West Germany (the Federal Republic of Germany), the democratic state that existed from 1949 to 1990 during the Cold War division of Germany.
After reunification, the term persists informally to distinguish those from the western regions: West Germans still earn higher average wages than their eastern counterparts.
