USB hubs
Connection expansion device
A USB hub is a device that expands a single USB port into multiple ports, allowing several peripherals to connect to one computer simultaneously: I plugged the keyboard, mouse, and external drive into the USB hub.
Powered hubs supply their own electricity for high-draw devices; unpowered hubs draw from the computer.
The plural appears more often than the singular, since users typically discuss them as a product category.
