Rex is a shortened form of Tyrannosaurus rex, the massive carnivorous dinosaur that lived in North America during the late Cretaceous period.
The name means "tyrant lizard king." With its enormous skull, powerful jaws, and famously tiny arms, T.
Rex has become the iconic predatory dinosaur in popular culture: The museum's T. Rex skeleton draws thousands of visitors.
