Spanish onions
Large yellow alliums
Spanish onions are a variety of large, mild-flavored onions with yellow or white skin, commonly used for cooking and eating raw.
Their sweetness and low pungency make them popular in salads and sandwiches: I sliced a Spanish onion for the burgers.
Despite the name, they're grown widely outside Spain.
