Spanish Steps

Piazza di Spagna landmark

The Spanish Steps are a monumental staircase in Rome, connecting the Piazza di Spagna at the base to the Trinità dei Monti church above.

Built in the 18th century, they remain one of Rome's most visited landmarks and popular gathering spots: We sat on the Spanish Steps eating gelato.

The name comes from the nearby Spanish Embassy.
