dolce vita

Living in pleasure

Dolce vita is Italian for "the sweet life"—a lifestyle of pleasure, luxury, and carefree indulgence.

The phrase entered English largely through Fellini's 1960 film depicting Rome's decadent high society.

It suggests sophisticated hedonism: They spent the summer living la dolce vita on the Amalfi Coast.
