Sinai desert
Arid Egyptian peninsula
The Sinai desert is the arid peninsula in northeastern Egypt, bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, the Red Sea to the south, and the Gulf of Suez and Gulf of Aqaba on either side.
In biblical tradition, it's where Moses received the Ten Commandments.
The region has been contested territory in modern Arab-Israeli conflicts.
Also called the Sinai Peninsula or simply the Sinai.
