Siberian tigers
Largest striped felines
Siberian tigers are the largest living cat species, native to the forests of eastern Russia and parts of China and North Korea.
Also called Amur tigers after the Amur River region they inhabit.
Their thick fur and large body size are adaptations to cold climates.
Once numbering in the thousands, they now survive only in small protected populations: Siberian tigers are critically endangered.
