Santa's grotto
Festive gift alcove
Santa's grotto is a decorated space, typically in a shopping center or department store, where children visit a person dressed as Santa Claus during the Christmas season.
The setup usually includes a throne, festive decorations, and a queue of families waiting for children to sit on Santa's lap, share their wish lists, and receive a small gift.
We took the kids to Santa's grotto at the mall.
The term is more common in British than American English.
