Salinas
Monterey County seat
Salinas is a city in central California, the seat of Monterey County and center of a major agricultural region known for lettuce and other produce.
John Steinbeck was born there and set several novels in the Salinas Valley.
The name, Spanish for "salt marshes" or "salt pits," appears in place names throughout the Spanish-speaking world.
