SIM card slot
Subscriber chip housing
A SIM card slot is the compartment in a mobile phone or other cellular device that holds the SIM card—the small chip that identifies the device to the carrier network.
Older phones had slots accessible under the battery; modern smartphones typically use a small tray on the edge that pops out with a pin: I need a paperclip to open the SIM card slot.
