Roman empress
Ancient queen's title
A Roman empress was the wife or female consort of a Roman emperor, or occasionally a woman who held imperial power in her own right.
The title carried enormous prestige and influence, though the extent of actual political power varied considerably—some empresses wielded significant authority as regents or advisors while others remained largely ceremonial figures.
Livia was perhaps the most influential Roman empress of the early empire.
