Rhinegold
Cursed Teutonic treasure
Rhinegold is the magical gold guarded by the Rhine maidens in Germanic mythology, most famously in Wagner's opera cycle *Der Ring des Nibelungen*.
Whoever renounces love can forge the gold into a ring granting world domination.
The term evokes cursed treasure and the corrupting power of wealth: The executives fought over the company like dwarves scrambling for Rhinegold.
