Pompidou Center
Inside-out Parisian landmark
The Pompidou Center is a modern art museum and cultural complex in Paris, opened in 1977.
Its design by Renzo Piano and Richard Rogers turned convention inside out—structural elements, pipes, and escalators are mounted on the exterior, leaving interior spaces open.
The building itself became as famous as its collections: We spent the morning at the Pompidou Center.
Also called Centre Pompidou or Beaubourg, after its neighborhood.
