Passaic

New Jersey river

Passaic is a city in northeastern New Jersey, situated along the Passaic River from which it takes its name.

Once a major textile manufacturing center, particularly for woolen goods, it developed as an industrial hub in the 19th century.

Today it is a densely populated, predominantly Hispanic community within the New York metropolitan area.

The Passaic River itself flows through much of northern New Jersey before emptying into Newark Bay.
