Oh Happy Day
Celebratory gospel outburst
Oh Happy Day is an exclamation of joy or relief, often used when something long hoped for finally happens or when an unexpected stroke of good luck arrives: Oh happy day, the check finally came!
The phrase gained wide recognition from the 1969 gospel hit by the Edwin Hawkins Singers, and it retains a celebratory, sometimes ironic tone in casual speech.
