Nile crocodiles

Large African predators

Nile crocodiles are large reptiles native to freshwater habitats throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

Among the largest crocodilian species, they can exceed sixteen feet and are responsible for more attacks on humans than any other crocodile.

They are ambush predators, waiting motionless before lunging at prey that approaches the water's edge.
