Maya ruins
Mesoamerican archaeological sites
Maya ruins are the archaeological remains of cities, temples, pyramids, and other structures built by the Maya civilization in Central America and southern Mexico.
These sites—including Chichén Itzá, Tikal, and Palenque—draw tourists and researchers studying the ancient civilization that flourished from roughly 2000 BCE until Spanish colonization.
We visited the Maya ruins in the Yucatán.
