Maud
Gray woolen wrap
Maud is a traditional name for women, derived from the Germanic Matilda.
It was common in medieval England and saw revival in the Victorian era, partly due to Tennyson's 1855 poem of that name.
A maud is also a gray plaid shawl traditionally worn by shepherds in Scotland: He wrapped his maud around his shoulders against the wind.
