Lose Yourself

Forget your surroundings

To lose yourself is to become so absorbed in something that you forget your surroundings, self-consciousness, or sense of time: I lost myself in the music.

The phrase can describe transcendent focus or flow states.

It also means to abandon inhibitions or usual restraints: Just lose yourself and dance.

Conversely, to lose yourself can mean losing your identity or sense of purpose: He lost himself after the divorce.
