Lévi-Strauss
French anthropology pioneer
Lévi-Strauss refers to Claude Lévi-Strauss (1908–2009), the French anthropologist who founded structural anthropology.
His work analyzed myths, kinship systems, and cultural practices as expressions of universal mental structures.
Lévi-Strauss argued that all human minds organize the world through binary oppositions.
The name also belongs to Levi Strauss, the German-American founder of the jeans company—note the different accent mark.
