Kindle Fire
Amazon's budget tablet
Kindle Fire is Amazon's line of tablet computers, first released in 2011 as a lower-cost alternative to Apple's iPad.
The devices run a modified version of Android and are designed primarily for consuming Amazon content—books, movies, music, and apps from Amazon's ecosystem.
Later models dropped "Kindle" from the name, becoming simply Fire tablets, though the original name persists in casual usage.
I got my kids a Kindle Fire for Christmas.
