Kimberley Process

Conflict-free gem verification

The Kimberley Process is an international certification scheme designed to prevent "conflict diamonds" or "blood diamonds" from entering the legitimate diamond trade.

Established in 2003, it requires participating countries to certify that diamond shipments are conflict-free—not financing rebel movements or civil wars, particularly in Africa.

The stone came with Kimberley Process certification.

Critics argue the process has significant loopholes and limited enforcement.
