Jair Bolsonaro

Jair Bolsonaro is a Brazilian politician who served as president of Brazil from 2019 to 2022.

A former army captain, he built his political identity on nationalist, socially conservative positions—opposing gun control, LGBTQ rights, and environmental protections for the Amazon.

His combative style and cultivation of online supporters drew comparisons to Donald Trump.

Bolsonaro's supporters stormed government buildings after his electoral defeat.
