Islamic texts
Muslim holy writings
Islamic texts are the sacred and authoritative writings of Islam.
The Quran is primary—Muslims believe it to be God's literal word revealed to Muhammad.
The hadith are collected sayings and actions of Muhammad, providing guidance on matters the Quran doesn't address directly.
These two sources form the basis of Islamic law and theology.
Secondary texts include tafsir (Quranic commentary), fiqh (jurisprudence), and works of Islamic philosophy.
