Irish twins

Back-to-back babies

Irish twins are siblings born less than twelve months apart—close enough in age to seem almost like twins.

The term originated as a stereotype about Catholic Irish families having many children in rapid succession.

It remains common but is sometimes considered offensive: My brother and I are Irish twins, born ten months apart.
