IELTS
Language proficiency assessment
IELTS is the International English Language Testing System, a standardized exam measuring English proficiency for non-native speakers.
Required by universities, employers, and immigration authorities in English-speaking countries, it assesses listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills: I need a 7.0 on the IELTS for my visa application.
Pronounced as separate letters or as a single syllable rhyming with "belts."
