ICI is an abbreviation for Imperial Chemical Industries, a British chemical company founded in 1926 that was once one of the largest manufacturers in the UK.
The company produced paints, pharmaceuticals, and industrial chemicals before being broken up and acquired by other corporations in the early 2000s.
ICI paints remained a familiar brand name in hardware stores long after the parent company ceased to exist as an independent entity.
