Hollywood montage
Compressed movie transformation
A Hollywood montage is a sequence of brief shots compressed to show the passage of time or a character's development—the training regimen before the big fight, the couple falling in love across seasons, the student cramming for exams.
The technique became so associated with American studio films that the name stuck: Every sports movie has its Hollywood montage where the underdog gets better.
