Gerda
Gerda is a Scandinavian feminine given name, most familiar to English speakers from the heroine of Hans Christian Andersen's "The Snow Queen"—the brave girl who rescues her friend Kai from the Snow Queen's palace.
The name remains common in Nordic countries and Germany: Gerda was my grandmother's name.
