Fig Newtons
Cakey fruit bars
Fig Newtons are a brand of cookie consisting of a soft cake-like exterior wrapped around a dense fig paste filling.
The distinctive oblong shape and chewy texture make them recognizable.
Though a trademark, the name is often used generically for any fig-filled cookie of this style: My grandmother always kept Fig Newtons in her pantry.
