Fear Factor

Intimidation's psychological component

Fear Factor was an American reality television competition series that aired primarily from 2001 to 2006, with a brief revival in 2011-2012, in which contestants faced physically demanding and often stomach-churning challenges for cash prizes.

The show became notorious for its gross-out stunts involving insects, animal parts, and other disgusting substances that contestants had to eat or endure.

The phrase has entered casual usage to describe any situation involving confronting fears or disgust: Eating that mystery casserole was a real fear factor moment.
