Elizabethan collar
Post-surgery pet cone
An Elizabethan collar is a cone-shaped protective device placed around an animal's neck to prevent it from licking, biting, or scratching at wounds or surgical sites.
Named for its resemblance to the stiff ruffled collars worn during the reign of Elizabeth I, it is commonly called a cone or, informally, a cone of shame.
Veterinarians typically fit pets with one after surgery or during treatment of skin conditions.
The cat spent two weeks in an Elizabethan collar after being spayed.
