Demotic script
Simplified Egyptian writing
Demotic script is a simplified form of ancient Egyptian writing that developed from hieratic script around the 7th century BCE.
It was the everyday writing system of Egypt for about a thousand years, used for business, legal documents, and literature while hieroglyphics remained for religious and monumental purposes.
The Rosetta Stone famously displays the same text in hieroglyphics, Demotic, and Greek.
