Crohn disease
Chronic bowel condition
Crohn disease is a chronic inflammatory condition affecting the digestive tract, most commonly the small intestine and colon.
Unlike ulcerative colitis, which affects only the colon's inner lining, Crohn's can occur anywhere from mouth to anus and penetrate deeper into tissue walls.
Symptoms include abdominal pain, diarrhea, and fatigue.
The condition is managed but not cured: She's been in remission from Crohn's for two years.
Also spelled Crohn's disease, after the physician who described it.
