Christian rap
Faith-based rhyming genre
Christian rap is hip-hop music with lyrics expressing Christian faith, values, or themes.
The genre emerged in the 1980s alongside mainstream rap, featuring the same beats and flow but replacing secular content with religious messages—praise, testimony, moral instruction, or evangelism.
Artists range from explicitly preachy to those who simply incorporate faith into broader subject matter.
