praise music
Songs glorifying God
Praise music is contemporary Christian music designed for congregational worship, typically featuring simple, repetitive lyrics and accessible melodies.
The style emerged in the late twentieth century as an alternative to traditional hymns, often accompanied by guitars, drums, and keyboards rather than organ: The church switched from hymns to praise music in the 1990s.
