Christian folklore
Saints and miracles
Christian folklore encompasses the legends, traditions, and popular beliefs that have grown up around Christianity outside official doctrine—stories of saints performing miracles, folk remedies blessed by prayer, superstitions about demons and angels, tales of relics with healing powers.
It blends biblical narrative with local myth and pre-Christian customs: The Easter Bunny is Christian folklore grafted onto pagan spring fertility symbols.
Much of what people think of as "Christian" tradition—from Christmas trees to guardian angels watching over children—belongs more to folklore than to scripture or theology.
