Carroll O'Connor
Carroll O'Connor (1924–2001) was an American actor best known for playing Archie Bunker, the bigoted but lovable working-class patriarch in the groundbreaking sitcom *All in the Family* (1971–1979).
The role earned him four Emmy Awards and made him a cultural icon.
He later starred as a Southern police chief in *In the Heat of the Night*.
