Bea Arthur

Bea Arthur was an American actress known for her deep voice, sardonic delivery, and imposing presence.

She won Emmy Awards for two sitcom roles: Maude Findlay in *Maude* (1972–78) and Dorothy Zbornak in *The Golden Girls* (1985–92).

Both characters were sharp-tongued, progressive women who tweaked conservative sensibilities.
