Aqualad

Underwater teenage hero

Aqualad is a superhero name used by several characters in DC Comics, typically a young male sidekick to Aquaman with water-based powers.

The original Aqualad (Garth) debuted in 1960; a later version (Kaldur'ahm) gained prominence through the animated series *Young Justice*.

The name follows the comic book convention of pairing a descriptive word with "lad" for junior heroes: Aqualad can breathe underwater and communicate with sea life.
